December 7, 2020: Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology recently built and installed a new main switchboard on Vlieland, a vessel from shipping company Rederij Doeksen which operates a ferry service on the Wadden Sea between Harlingen and the isle of Vlieland.
Water damage made it necessary to completely replace one of the two existing switchboards. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology quickly recreated the existing main switchboard and provided it with the latest equipment and components where possible. To ensure optimal synchronisation and the parallel installation of the newly placed generators, the new switchboard was also provided with a modern AMCS system developed by sister company Marble Automation.
While the vessel was moored at Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, Piet Brouwer was also asked to install a new security and safety system onboard. After a brief implementation period and successful sea trial, the ferry was taken back into use by Rederij Doeksen.
Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has been a partner in electrotechnology for Rederij Doeksen for many years. It was also asked to finalise the electrotechnical activities for the new ferries Willem Barentsz and Willem de Vlamingh.
