Full package for seven-strong series of Arklow vessels

Royal Bodewes shipyard has again employed Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology to supply a complete package of engineering, panels, installation and commissioning for a series of seven 6,800 DWT Arklow vessels. Other work includes the complete electrical propulsion for the bowthruster and generator shaft, the monitoring of various tanks, a UMS alarm system and a LED lighting setup. The alarm and monitoring system will be programmed by Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology’s sister company Marble Automation.

Project manager Lub Visser says that the nicest part of the work is being carried out on board: “We start with the engineering before the installation process begins. Our team of ambitious engineers can realise the entire electrical system in just 20 weeks.”After a successful sea trial, Arklow Racer, the first in the series of seven, was delivered to her owner, Irish shipping company Arklow Shipping, in week 7 of 2023. In the meantime, the Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology team has started with the installation on the second sister vessel, Arklow Rally.
