Walking through the business port of Urk you can’t miss the huge cargo vessel in its striking blue colour. Since its arrival in late February, Southern Rock 14 – the largest vessel in the Harman Seatrade fleet – has been a hive of bustling activity. Highlights include the installation of the main engine and other engine room components, a ballast water treatment system, navigation equipment and other electrical devices.
Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology is responsible for the design and installation of the complete electrical installation; from making the various distribution boxes for the panels to installing the cables and commissioning the various systems. An eye-catching element of the vessel is the two wings on the stern, specifically designed to create more deck space. This will allow Southern Rock 14to carry larger freight while keeping fuel consumption the same.
