It is now a couple of years ago since Contest Yachts and Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology first partnered on a new yacht and the two companies have since completed a number of impressive new-build projects together. Various large yachts from the prestigious Medemblik yard now have electrical systems with the Piet Brouwer seal of approval, so what is the secret behind this successful cooperation?
The Contest Yachts slogan is ‘Building Dreams Together’ and they do this for a wide range of clients. The yard’s distinctive sailing boats are available from 42 to 85 feet and finished to an exceptionally high standard. Yachts larger than 67 feet have a different type of electrical installation explains Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology project leader Albert Ras.. “The know-how and expertise of our company has been especially valuable on these kinds of build.”
The emphasis on the Contest 67 and 72 is more on a 230V installation combined with a PLC system, similar to the solutions found onboard larger sailyachts of 100 feet and more. “Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek has enormous experience in the construction of these superyachts,” says Albert. “We have seamlessly applied this expertise on the 67 and 72 lines from Contest.”
The combination of a series-build approach at Contest with at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology’sexperience of one-off projects makes for a unique cooperation. “Our specialists have a deep understanding of large custom yachts while Contest is renowned for its series know-how. By joining forces in this way we can offer owners the best of both worlds.” at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnologycan also leverage on its sister company Marble Automation for the programming of the alarm & monitoring systems. “This makes us an ultra-reliable partner for the realisation of safe, efficient, user-friendly and premium quality yachts,” concludes Albert.
