SUCCESSFUL SEA TRIALS AND DELIVERY OF MS ATLANTIC DAWN

December 9th 2013: This week saw Atlantic Dawn successfully complete her sea trials. She is the first of four multi-purpose heavy lift vessels commissioned from the yard Shipkits by Urk shipowner Daniel Hartman. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology was responsible for the installation of the electrical systems onboard Atlantic Dawn. These systems recently underwent extensive testing in heavy weather conditions.

MS Atlantic Dawn has a deadweight of 4,200 tons and is equipped with two 150-ton cranes. The vessel is 111.60 metres long, has a beam of 16.80 metres, and can reach a top speed of around 17 knots – exceptionally fast for this type of ship. The finishing touches are currently being made to the next two sister vessels in Urk harbour, while the hull of the fourth will arrive soon.

MS Atlantic Dawn was completed to the client’s satisfaction. Work is currently ongoing on three other similar ships. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has been commissioned to deliver the electrical system onboard all four.
